Set your grading scale

The grading scale maps a weekly average of steps and active minutes onto a percentage. Without it, eFit has no way to turn activity into a grade, and the course will not grade at all.

How a week is scored

Each week eFit works out two numbers for every student:

  • their average daily steps across their best graded days, and
  • their total active minutes for the week.

Each is scored against your scale, and the student keeps whichever is higher. Somebody who walks a lot and somebody who does hard shorter workouts can both do well.

Setting it

  1. Go to Course Setup > Grading Scale.
  2. Pick the course and section.
  3. Set the steps and active minutes required for each percentage band.
  4. Save.

The default scale runs from 0 steps at 0% up to 10,000 steps and 100 active minutes at 100%, in even increments. That is a reasonable starting point for a general education fitness course.

Every row must not hold the same value. If the lowest and highest rows are identical, there is no range to score against and grades cannot be calculated. The readiness page flags this.

Changing it mid-semester

You can adjust the scale at any point. Grades recalculate from the new numbers, including for weeks that have already passed, so tell your students if you change it after the course has started.
