eFit reads your steps and active minutes from Google Health automatically, usually within a few minutes of your phone syncing, with a nightly catch-up in case anything is missed. The Refresh my activity button lets you start that read yourself whenever your numbers look out of date.
Where to find the button
- Activity Data page — open your Dashboard, choose Activity Data, and the button sits at the top of the page next to the table it updates. This is the best place to use it, because the table reloads with whatever the refresh brings in.
- Sync Tracker page — on Sync Tracker, a Sync Now button appears once your tracker is connected.
- Your Dashboard also links you to the Activity Data page whenever it notices several days without new activity.
The button appears for Google Health connections. If you are still on an older tracker connection, your data continues to sync automatically, and switching to Google Health on the Sync Tracker page gives you the button too.
When to use it
- Yesterday's steps look lower in eFit than in the Google Health app.
- You just fixed something — reconnected your tracker, changed a permission, or finally opened the phone app after a few days — and want eFit to pick up the result right away.
- An assignment deadline is close and you want to confirm your latest activity has been counted.
You never need it for routine days. Automatic syncing keeps working whether or when you press it.
Press the button in the right order
eFit can only read what has already reached Google Health. Do the phone steps first:
- Put your phone near your tracker, open your tracker app, and let it finish syncing.
- Open the Google Health app and confirm today's steps are there.
- Now press Refresh my activity in eFit.
What the messages mean
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| Updated | New activity arrived. The page reloads so you can see it in your table. |
| Numbers have not changed yet | eFit checked Google Health and found the same totals it already had. Your phone has not handed the new activity to Google Health yet — do the phone steps above, wait a few minutes, and refresh again. |
| Connection has expired | Google Health stopped sharing with eFit, which happens if access was revoked or the authorization lapsed. Use the link in the message to reconnect on the Sync Tracker page, then refresh once more. |
| Try again in a few minutes (with a countdown) | You refreshed recently. The button waits 5 minutes between refreshes and allows 12 per day. |
Good to know
- Each refresh re-reads your last 7 days, so a day that arrived late is picked up as long as it reached Google Health within the week. Older history comes in through the regular nightly syncs.
- Refreshes are recorded. If you ever need to show that you synced before a deadline, that record backs you up.
- Pressing the button repeatedly cannot add steps you have not taken — it only reads what Google Health already holds.
