Troubleshooting Fitness Tracker Sync Issues

Fixing sync problems

If your activity is not appearing correctly in eFit, work through these steps. eFit reads your data from Google Health, so most issues come down to your data not reaching Google Health, or eFit being connected to the wrong account.

Step 1: Sync your tracker app

  1. Open your tracker app (Garmin Connect, Samsung Health, or your phone's fitness app).
  2. Pull down to refresh and let it finish syncing.
  3. Confirm your latest activity appears in the app.

Step 2: Check that your data reached Google Health

Open the Google Health app and confirm your recent steps and activity are there.

If the activity is missing from Google Health, the problem is upstream of eFit. Fix the tracker-to-Google-Health step first.

Step 3: Use the eFit repair tool

If your activity is in Google Health but not in eFit:

  1. Go to your eFit Dashboard.
  2. Open Help > Sync Repair.
  3. Watch the short tutorial video, then click Begin Repairs to force a refresh.
  4. Wait a few minutes and check your activity page.

Step 4: Reconnect Google Health

  1. Open Sync Tracker and select Unsync Fitness Tracker.
  2. Open Sync Tracker again and tap Connect with Google Health.
  3. Sign in with the Google account that holds your activity and approve every permission.

Common causes of sync issues

  • Data has not reached Google Health - your tracker app must sync first, and on Android it must write to Health Connect.
  • Wrong Google account - eFit reads only the account you selected when you connected.
  • Missing permissions - approve every box when connecting so eFit can read steps and active minutes.
  • App not opened recently - open your tracker app and the Google Health app so they pass along fresh data.

Your data is never lost

Reconnecting does not delete your activity history in eFit. Your previous records are preserved. Reconnecting only refreshes the link between eFit and Google Health.

Is Google Health itself down?

If your activity is not reaching Google Health at all, or several people report the same problem at the same time, Google Health may be having a service outage rather than eFit. Check the Google Health status page. If it shows a Mobile App or Web API incident, wait for Google to resolve it and then sync again. Your eFit connection stays intact during an outage.
